Hollywood Florida things to know
A lot of times when we hear Hollywood, I believe most of our minds goes to Hollywood California, however, today I will enlighten you about Hollywood, Florida.
Hollywood is a city located in Southern Florida between Miami and Ft. Lauderdale. Like most cities in Florida it has a very diverse culture. It is the home of the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel and Casino and that includes the very first Guitar Hotel. Hollywood beach which is just a few miles away from the Hollywood/FT. Lauderdale airport has a one of a kind beachfront boardwalk, that stretches miles along the beach. The beach itself is one of the most popular beaches here in South Florida, lined off with many brand name hotels as well as other smaller resorts, this is a must visit location to put on your bucketlist.
Things to Do in Hollywood;
Visit the Anne Kolb Nature Center
The name says it all, this Nature Center located in Hollywood, Florida will help you to become one with nature. There is no entry fee.
The main building holds exhibits of art work , marine life, and other creatures, as well as a gift shop. There is also a mini theatre inside that shows a 10 min video.
On the outdoors you can walk the trails leading to different places like mudflat, not much to see there, or the trail that leads to river watching and taking pictures of the mangroves. There is an area there for fishing and you could also boat watch as the water taxis, yachts, and speedboats passes by. If you are into cycling there is somewhere for that as well.
The center also offers a 30 min boat tour for a small fee.
Visit the Art and Culture Center
The Art and Culture Center,showcases different art pieces from various artist. You can interact with some of the paintings by listening to their interpretation over headphones, explore the sculpture garden and the acrylic works of art gallery.There is also a kids center, where kids can be creative.
The Art and Culture Center is not very big and a walk through can be done in about 15 minutes or depending on how much time you spend observing the art works.
Hard Rock Hotel and Casino
The main attraction right now in Hollywood Florida is the New Hollywood Guitar hotel, if you have been following my Instagram you can see the numerous photos and videos I have posted about this place. People visit the hotel just to stand up and watch the light show on the outside of the hotel, while others go inside to hang out at a night club, order from one of their high-end restaurants, enjoy a cocktail from one of the bars, get an ice cream from the ice cream shop, shop ‘til you drop, or go gambling to earn some money instead of losing.
The Hollywood Hard Rock is also a venue for many concerts of famous singers like Alicia Keys, Donna Summer and host of comedy shows for comedians such as Jerry Seinfield, Dave Chappelle and more.
Enjoy Hollywood beach and Boardwalk
Soak up some sun by yourself or with friends and family at Hollywood beach and if you have gotten bored there is lots more to do, like renting a bike or quadracycle and ride along the boardwalk, skating or have lunch at one of the fine eateries, even listen and watch musicians play at the amphitheatre.

Take a Walk on the Pier
Not very far North from the Hollywood Beach Boardwalk is the Dania Beach Pier. This is a great place to hang out. Make it a romantic occasion with your beau or something for you and the family to do .
There is a Quarter Deck restaurant just at the entrance of the pier, you can wine and dine and then go on the pier or the other way around or pack your fishing pole and bait and go fishing. Yes I said fishing 😉.
There is an entrance fee to go on the pier and price would depend on what you are going for. $2 per person just as spectator and $3 per person for someone wanting to go fishing.


Explore Downtown Hollywood
Downtown Hollywood is another hot spot, with places to shop, dine and party. Both sides of the strip offers a wide selection of restaurants and a few places to shop. There is also a theater in the midst where you can stop in to view one of their shows or attend the Fort Lauderdale Film Festival when it’s in town. On the other block there are clubs and cafés for those looking for a vibrant night life.
On a Monday night if you are looking for something a bit laid back you can bring a chair and enjoy a visit to the Food Truck set up at Young Circle Park and delight your taste buds with the diversity of food being offered.
