Wingate by Wyndham Alpharetta, Georgia – Review

On my most recent road trip, I booked a room at the Wingate by Wyndham Alpharetta location. When booking hotels I normally use Expedia for my searches because I can get prices and views of different hotels in one place and in addition each time I book a flight or hotel I get points that adds up to dollars.

I chose Wingate by Wyndham hotel mainly based on how close it was to where my partner had his business meeting, and then I look for price, amenities offered, reviews and check-in time. Check-in time was important in this case because I already knew we were going to get there late and their check-in was from 3 p.m. until 5 a.m. I like a hotel room that has a fridge, microwave, and a coffee pot. I don’t drink coffee but the pot can be used to hot water to make tea and I am always up for a good cup of tea.

Since we were going to be late we tried calling the hotel and their phones were down. I ended up calling the toll free number and the agent was able to get through to the hotel to advise that we were running late. Once we got there the check-in was simple. Once we got to the room my partner said the toilet had a piece of “turd” in it. How the heck did it get there? The rest of the room seemed clean, the bed sheets seemed clean, no hair or anything of the sort. My partner immediately called the front desk, they did offer us to change rooms but we were tired and I had to start working shortly. So we flushed it out and kept the room.

The next morning when taking a shower one of the towels were dirty we had to take it to the front desk to show and we were advised that the GM would call us and no one did.

We paid for a Standard room, that came with 2 queen beds, television refrigerator, microwave, coffee maker and coffee set up. It also had an iron, ironing board, hair dryer, wash rags, towels, tiny bath and face soaps. And for business travelers, you have your own little remote office; a table, chair, wired as well as wireless internet, and a jack for your own phone line (separate from the one that comes with the room). I thought that was really cool that they were considerate of everyone.

I was not able to take pictures of the beds because when I remembered to take the pictures the beds were already in use…lol.

The breakfast at the hotel was better than most hotels that I have been to recently. They offered good choices for breakfast. There was bread for toast, bagels, muffins, fruits, egg burritos, sausages, cereal, and more.

Apart from the usual amenities that comes with the room, the hotel also has a laundry room, a fitness center, computer area, 24 hour front desk assistance, daily housekeeping, and dry cleaning. You can also request a free crib if you are traveling with a young child and roll-a-way beds are available upon request for an additional fee.

At check-out we went to talk to the front desk about our issue, the receptionist was a little hesitant about doing anything and called the GM that was standing right next to her. The GM was able to resolve the issue for “customer satisfaction”.
